Just When You Thought It Was A Good Idea...

...to put your doughnuts in the oven, so the kids wouldn't see them and incessantly WHIIIINE for one. I think you all know how this one ends (and if you don't...read here).

IT'S NOT!

Oven: 2     Beth: 0

I know, I cried too. Wait, you weren't crying over the DEVASTATING LOSS of burning doughnuts? Oh. Yeah, I didn't either.

Now some of you might think, "Well they're only a little melted...you could probably still eat them." Believe me, I tried. Notice the gaping hole on the bottom left where there is only a charred remnant? Yep, that was where I tried to salvage one last precious Boston Creme doughnut to no avail. They were just too burned on the bottom. If you look closely you can see the oven rack outline on the bottom of the box. Impressive, no?

Don't worry, I'll be here all week.

  3. That's too funny! I've done that before too. Well not to donuts, but I've left items in the oven (seems so smart at the time) and then burned them later. At least the box didn't catch on fire :)

  6. Oh Beth! You are very funny! I enjoy reading about these little moments in your life! After we moved into our new house Grandma was going to cook us some dinner and she did not realize the oven racks were still wrapped in plastic. Our poor oven has never been the same :-)

  7. That is so funny; I'm sorry it happened though. Is this not the second round of things the oven has destroyed?

  8. If that were my house, I would consider it a sign from God. That is so funny!

  10. Gina - I love that you're on here! OF COURSE I had to see if they were still edible :)
Lisa - I know. I was devastated. Looks can be deceiving, trust me.
Megan - Yes, I was quite thankful, because it could've caught on fire, and then I'd have to explain that to my brother THE FIREMAN. Crisis averted.
Susan - You have NO IDEA. ;P
Janna - Thank you for making me feel better!
Shannan - I'm going to have to resort to hiding things in my microwave. Lord only knows how that will turn out!
Sarah - SWEET CUZ!!! Is this Grammy? Or your dad's mom? Because if it was Grammy then I know it's genetic!
Regina - You are correct. And I dare say it's not the last.
Heather - You are mistaken, God LOVES doughnuts...and humility. In that order ;P
Natalie - I only got one before this stunt, but yes, they were (sniff).

  11. Oh, hilarious!! I remember the melted cups! So, I guess you need to find a new hiding place besides the oven!! :)

  13. This has happened to me so many times. I try to hide the really good treats from my husband and daughter. Then, I forget they exist and find them way past their prime.

Maybe I need a lesson on sharing
