Jeopardy - Mommy Monday Edition

Player 1: I'll take Words That Make a Mother Burst into Tears for $200, Alex.

Alex: All right, for $200. Your child might say this his/her first day of Kindergarten.

Player 1: What is, "It's okay, Mommy, I don't need you to hold my hand."

Alex: That is correct!

Seriously. That's what my son said to me this morning on our way into his school for "Meet the Teacher". Break my heart, right? Go ahead, stomp all over it with your brand new school shoes. You don't want to hold my hand today? I get it, Big boy - you're excited. But hooooo buddy, if you don't think you're going to pay for that, just you wait. Wait until you bring home your first girlfriend - I have a picture of you in the tub with her name ALL OVER IT.

Take heart, mothers of new kindergartners - we can do this.

  1. Your Dad never went to Kindergarten and by the time he went to 1st grade, I had Aunt Karen, and Aunt Janet, and probably had just had Uncle Scott, so I never even walked them to school. The neighbor had two boys, one a year older and I think one same age, so they all walked together!

However, he did bring home a note, I think the first week to bring rag and soap to clean his desk of the writing he did on it! Don't tell Cody this though, it may give him ideas!!!

So happy to hear that he invited Jesus into his heart, I guess it was last week? I was going to call and talk to him, but then Aunt Karen ended up in ER and a 4 day stay and I've been getting PT on my shoulder and neck, and now here it is a new week and I had my 4th session, got 2 more to go, then back to Ortho. Dr. next Monday! Love you all!! xoxoxoxo

  2. I love this Beth! Jacob wanted me to carry his backpack with his supplies into the school today, and at the last minute he proclaimed, "I've got it Mom, all the big kids are carrying theirs." --At that moment I had a sudden rush of memories...carrying him all over the house swaddled up at 1 week old, carrying him to church, carrying him everywhere...*sniff sniff* -Abbie

  10. Beth-I'm sending my first to pre-K in a couple of weeks. I get choked up thinking about the whole "drop-off" scenario.
