Christmas Jitters

And no, it's not from one too many Gingerbread Lattes from Starubucks.

I hope that you all can forgive me for being so slack in my postings as of late. Writer Wednesday didn't happen because I didn't feel like I had anything worth writing about - in my MS or here on the blog. I've had a really hard time just peeling myself away from staring mindlessly at the walls! I don't know what has happened to my mind as of late.

It could be the anticipation of Christmas - all of the lists of who to buy for, when to buy it, and how many extra "in case I forget someone" gifts I should buy. Then there's the laundry and the packing for the trip home for the holidays that is inching ever closer to my realm of consciousness. Pair that with the overwhelming guilt I sometimes feel that we make this holiday so darn commercialized and forget the real REASON behind Christmas - but that doesn't stop me from buying! Oh, no!

WARNING! WARNING! THIS BRAIN IS ABOUT TO SELF DESTRUCT!

Is it just me? Have you felt this way too?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pulling a Bah, Humbug on all of you. It's just a little overwhelming to me at the moment. I'm sure the Christmas spirit will find me (and it usually finds me when I'm on my knees in prayer). I hope it stays with those of you that have it, and that it finds those of you who don't!

  1. I JUST got my ordered Christmas cards in the mail today, so my stress level is coming down. LOL
Other than that, I've been really calm this Christmas, trying to keep the focus on what it should really be. :)

  2. I feel exactly the same way. My mind has just not been into writing because of the stress of the holidays. I also hope the Christmas spirit finds me.

  3. I have felt that same way. When I finally got back down to the real things of Christmas, my joy and wonder came back. Breathe in, breathe out, and your brain will not explode. LOL

  4. Well, to make you feel better - I have done ZERO Christmas shopping so far. None. Yes, this has my pulse racing just a little. And still no Christmas cards ordered yet either. It'll probably be EAster by the tiem I get those out. I'm very behind on everything. How is already the 12th?!?

  5. I'll admit the Christmas spirit will feel a whole lot stronger after I'm done doing the Christmas art project with my daughter's kindergarten class tomorrow. And I just didn't do Christmas cards or cookies for the neighbors this year. I'm kind of feeling like Scrooge too.

  6. I'm glad that you're getting the spirit of Christmas. It's funny, but I'm feeling more the real meaning of Christmas, but the commercial stuff is getting forgotten. I still need to get busy with some of that. (Not that I want to get caught up in it, but I think my kids would not appreciate the lack of trimmings and presents. Heehee.)
